Alanya sits at the eastern end of the Antalya coast, where the mountains push right down to the sea and a Seljuk castle occupies the headland between two beaches. It is the furthest of the big resort towns from Antalya Airport — but Gazipasa Airport is only a short run along the coast, which changes the arithmetic for anyone who can choose their flight.

Before you land
- If you can fly into Gazipasa (GZP) rather than Antalya (AYT), do it — the transfer is roughly a third of the distance.
- The castle road is steep and narrow; a transfer up and a walk down is the comfortable way round.
- Mahmutlar and Kestel are separate towns east of the centre, not Alanya neighbourhoods — give your driver the actual district.
