Everything you need to know about Kundu to Antalya City Center
Private Transfer from Kundu to Antalya City Center
Kundu is the hotel strip that many first-time visitors take for Antalya itself. It sits between the airport and Lara Beach, and it is a purpose-built tourism zone. The big resorts here copy famous landmarks. You see the mock Kremlin of WOW Topkapi Palace, the Venetian canals of Titanic, and Egyptian pyramids and Roman columns along the main boulevard, Yavuz Özcan Bulvarı. The beach holiday here is easy and comfortable. It is also a bubble. Sooner or later most guests want the real Antalya: the old town, the marina, the bazaars and the kebab houses that no all-inclusive buffet can match.
This page covers the 10-kilometre private transfer from Kundu to Antalya City Center. The drive takes about 11 minutes in normal conditions. Below you find the road itself, the places in the centre where we set you down, the districts and who each one suits, food and evenings, travel with children, late nights, the return to Kundu, day trips and the seasons.
The Drive: Kundu to the Centre
The route is short and simple. From your Kundu hotel the driver follows the resort access roads to the main coastal highway, the D400. Then the car runs west along the D400, past the airport perimeter, toward the middle of the city. The distance is 10 kilometres. The drive takes about 11 minutes.
There are no mountain passes on this route and no ferry. The surface is good and the junctions are easy to read. On a quiet morning the scenery is mostly the resort belt behind you, then the airport zone, then the first city blocks. As you come into town, the line of the Taurus Mountains rises behind Antalya. On a clear day the peaks look very close.
Typical and busy times
The 11-minute figure is the normal drive. Real traffic changes it a little.
- Mid-morning and early afternoon: the road is usually calm, and the time stays close to the normal figure.
- Evening in summer: many resorts empty toward the city at the same time. Guests go out for dinner, shopping and the old town. Allow extra time and the drive is slower but still short.
- Early morning: the road is almost empty. This is the easiest time for a run to the old town before the heat.
The route stays straight and direct in all these cases. Only the time on the clock changes. If you have a dinner booking in the old town, add a small buffer for the summer evening and the car will still get you there with plenty of time to walk the last steps.
The airport on the way
The D400 passes by the airport perimeter on this journey. The airport is only about 18 km from the Kundu hotels, and the run from the airport to Kundu usually takes 20 to 30 minutes. This detail matters for planning. The city centre and the airport lie on the same side of Kundu, so one road serves both. If you plan a day in town before a late flight, you can keep the same driver for the whole day. See the return section further down.
Why a Booked Car Works Well on This Short Route
A 10-kilometre trip does not look like a good case for a booked transfer. A yellow metered taxi can do this run too. So why book ahead? The answer is simple and practical.
- You know your pickup. The driver arrives at your hotel lobby at the agreed time. Kundu has many resorts with similar names. Each resort has its own entrance, its own gate and its own place for cars. Our drivers know them, so you do not circle the grounds with your bags.
- You know the destination. When you give the exact drop-off point, the driver plans the right approach to the old town.
- You travel as a group. A family with a buggy, or friends with shopping bags, ride in one vehicle. The vehicle types we offer are sedan, minivan and VIP. Child seats are available on request.
- You can use the same driver for the return. After dinner in the old town you do not need to look for a taxi at the end of the evening.
Why not only the hotel shuttle?
Kundu resorts run their own shuttles, and these are paid services. Shuttles follow a timetable. They often stop at several hotels. They rarely wait while you finish a long dinner. A private transfer goes when you want, goes direct, and waits at the start point of your return. For a family with small children, a late dinner or a hot afternoon, this freedom is worth more than the small difference in cost.
Where "City Center" Drops You
Antalya's centre is not one single point. Tell us the exact place when you book. The main options are below.
Kaleiçi, the walled old town
Most visitors mean Kaleiçi. This is the old walled quarter above the harbour, with narrow cobbled lanes and Ottoman houses that now hold small hotels, cafes and restaurants. Cars can reach only the edges of the old town, because the inner lanes are mostly for pedestrians. The driver sets you down at Hadrian's Gate or near the Republic Square clock tower, called Cumhuriyet Meydanı. Both are about two minutes on foot from the cobbles.
Hadrian's Gate is the best known entrance. It is a triple arch from the Roman period, and it stands at the edge of the old town. From there you walk into the lanes. The fluted minaret, Yivli Minare, is a landmark that is easy to find and helps you orient yourself in the lanes.
The marina and the harbour
The old harbour, the Kaleiçi marina, sits below the old town walls. It is a small basin of water with boat trips and cafes. Guests who want a boat trip or a dinner by the water ask us to drop them close to the harbour area. Tell the driver if you want the harbour side. The approach is different from the Hadrian's Gate approach.
Atatürk Boulevard and the shopping streets
For shops, a quick coffee and the busy city feeling, the area around Atatürk Boulevard and the streets next to Republic Square is the right place. It is a normal working city centre with banks, shops and local life. This area suits guests who want a short walk with simple errands, or a first view of the city before the old town.
Karaalioğlu Park and the cliffs
West of the old town, Karaalioğlu Park runs along the top of the cliffs. It has long terraces with wide views over the bay. The Hıdırlık Tower stands at the end of the park and is a popular sunset point. Guests who want a quiet walk at the end of the afternoon ask to be dropped near the park entrance. From there the walk toward the tower is easy.
Tram and bus station
If you connect to the tram or to the intercity bus station, called the otogar, tell us when you book. We drive you to the correct side of the area, so you do not walk around a large building with your bags.
The Districts and Who Each One Suits
Kundu guests who come to the centre often ask where to spend their time. This is a simple way to choose.
- Kaleiçi suits guests who love atmosphere. It is for slow walks, old houses, small shops, a coffee on a terrace, and a view of the harbour. It is not for guests who need to push a large buggy over cobbles all day, or who have trouble with steps and slopes.
- The harbour and marina suits guests who want the sea and the boats at the same time as the old town. It is a good first stop for families, because the paths near the water are easier than the steep lanes above.
- Republic Square and Atatürk Boulevard suits guests who want normal city life, shops and a base for the tram.
- Karaalioğlu Park and the cliff terraces suits guests who want green space, views and a calm evening.
- Konyaaltı Beach lies west of the centre. It is a long pebble beach below the mountains. It suits guests who want a different beach from the sandy beach near Kundu. It is a further drive from Kundu than the centre, so tell us if you want this destination.
Beaches, the Old Town and Landmarks
Kundu itself has a wide sandy beach backed by Turkish red pine forest. The resorts spread along it, and there is more room here than closer to the city. This is why many families choose Kundu. The city centre offers something else.
What to see in the centre
- Hadrian's Gate. A Roman triple arch at the edge of Kaleiçi. It is the usual first photograph of a day in the old town.
- The old harbour. A small port below the walls, with views of the bay and the mountains on the far side.
- Yivli Minare. The fluted minaret is the symbol of Antalya and a clear landmark when you walk through the old town.
- Hıdırlık Tower. A round tower at the end of Karaalioğlu Park, with a view over the sea and the cliffs.
- Karaalioğlu Park. A long park with terraces along the cliffs, shaded paths and wide views.
- The old Ottoman houses. Many of the old houses in Kaleiçi are now small hotels, shops and restaurants. The lanes themselves are the main sight.
The old town is best on foot and in the cooler hours. Plan to arrive late in the afternoon in summer, walk through the lanes as the heat falls, and stay for sunset and dinner.
Food and Evenings
Eating in the centre is one of the main reasons to leave the resort. A resort buffet cannot copy a kebab house or a small restaurant in the old town. The city offers Turkish grill dishes, meze, fresh fish near the harbour and terraces with sea views.
An evening plan
A simple evening from Kundu looks like this.
- The driver collects you from the hotel lobby in the late afternoon.
- The drive to the old town takes about 11 minutes in normal conditions. In the summer evening, allow extra time.
- The driver sets you down at Hadrian's Gate or Republic Square.
- You walk the lanes, see the harbour and watch the sunset from the cliff terraces or the harbour side.
- You have dinner in the old town or near the harbour.
- The same driver collects you at the time you agreed and takes you back to your Kundu lobby.
Tell us your return time when you book. If the dinner runs late, send a message and the driver adjusts. A booked return avoids the end-of-evening search for a taxi outside a busy restaurant area.
Bazaars and shopping
Small shops sit in and around the old town lanes. They sell leather goods, textiles, ceramics, spices and sweets. Prices are agreed with the seller, and it is normal to take your time. If your shopping is large, say so when you book and we send a vehicle with room.
For larger shops and a change from the old town, Kundu guests also use the two big malls in the Antalya area, TerraCity and Mall of Antalya. Both are places for a meal outside the hotel buffet and for normal shopping. Tell us the one you want when you book.
Families and Children
Kundu is a family-resort area. Water parks, many pools, evening shows and kids' clubs keep many families in the grounds all week. A trip to the centre is a good change, if you plan it well.
- Time. The drive is only 11 minutes in normal conditions. A short ride suits small children, and the children do not tire in the car.
- Child seats. Child seats are available on request. Tell us the age of each child when you book, so the right seat is in the car at pickup.
- Buggies. Cobbled lanes are hard for buggies. If your child is small, a baby carrier or a light folding buggy is easier in Kaleiçi. The harbour and the paths in Karaalioğlu Park are easier.
- Heat. In summer the day is hot, with temperatures of 35°C and more. Go late in the afternoon and plan shade, water and a rest.
- Return. Book the return at a time that matches your children. A booked car waits for you and you do not look for a taxi with tired children at the end of the evening.
The vehicle choice, sedan, minivan or VIP, depends on group size and luggage. Tell us both when you book.
Late Nights and Early Flights
Late nights
The transfer works for late returns. If you stay in the old town for dinner and a long evening, the driver collects you at the time you chose. Because the route is only 10 kilometres, even a late return is short. Message us if your plan changes, and we adjust the pickup.
Early morning flights
Many holidaymakers leave Kundu on early flights. If your flight leaves early in the morning, the roads at that hour are almost empty. Give yourself time for check-in and security, and tell us your flight time when you book. The driver knows the hotel entrance, so there is no search for the pickup point at an early hour.
If you spend your last day in the centre before an evening or night flight, there are two good options.
- Keep the same driver for the whole day. He takes you from Kundu to the centre, waits or returns at the agreed time, and then goes on to the airport.
Tell us your flight time when you book, and we match the timing to it.
The Return Trip: Center to Kundu
Going back to your resort after a day in town is the same route in reverse, again 10 kilometres and about 11 minutes. Two points help you.
- Give the exact hotel name. Kundu resorts sit close to each other. A wrong turn into a neighbour's security barrier costs time. Tell us the hotel name clearly, and the driver goes to your own lobby.
- Choose a clear meeting point. The old town lanes are narrow, and cars stop at the edges. Hadrian's Gate, Republic Square or a named point near the harbour are good meeting places. Agree on one of them and send a message when you are ready.
Because the evening road can be busy in summer, add a small buffer to your return time. The route itself stays direct. The buffer only protects you from the busiest minutes on the main road.
Heading to the airport from Kundu
Many guests ask how early to leave for the flight. The distance from Kundu to the airport is about 18 km, and the drive usually takes 20 to 30 minutes. For an international flight, plan to arrive with plenty of time for check-in, bag drop and passport control. Choose a pickup time that gives you a comfortable margin, and not the last possible minute. If your flight is delayed or moved, tell us and we adjust. For arrivals, the driver tracks the flight and meets you in the terminal with a name sign.
Day Trips from Kundu and the City
Kundu and the centre are a good base for a number of day trips. All these places are reached by road from the Antalya area.
- Lower Düden Waterfalls. Freshwater falls that drop straight into the sea near Lara. They are a short taxi ride from Kundu and a good place for photographs, especially toward sunset.
- Antalya Aquarium. One of the longest tunnel aquariums in the world, and a strong choice for families. The ride from Kundu takes roughly 20 to 25 minutes.
- Perge. An ancient city east of Antalya with a long colonnaded street and a large stadium. It suits guests who like ruins.
- Aspendos. One of the best-preserved Roman theatres anywhere, still used for performances today. It is about 40 to 45 minutes from Kundu, an easy day-trip ride.
- Kaleiçi and the harbour. The city trip that this page describes, about half an hour of walking and viewing in the old town and much longer if you add a meal.
- TerraCity and Mall of Antalya. Two malls for shopping and a change from the resort.
We run all these as direct trips. You can book one way, or a round trip with waiting time, so the driver brings you back to Kundu.
Seasons and Weather
Antalya has a Mediterranean climate, with more than 300 sunny days a year. The seasons shape how you use the centre.
- Summer. Hot, often 35°C and above. Visit the old town in the late afternoon and evening. Midday in the lanes is hot, so plan shade and cold drinks. The evening roads are busier, so add a buffer.
- Spring and autumn. The warm and comfortable months for walking. The sea season runs from April to November, and these shoulder months suit long days in the old town with fewer crowds.
- Winter. Mild, with daytime temperatures around 15°C. It is a good time to see the old town without the crowd, though many beach facilities are quiet. Rain falls in winter months, so keep a light jacket.
The drive stays the same all year. The only change is the amount of traffic. In high season the resort belt is full, and evening traffic grows. In winter the road is quiet.
