Private Transfer from Kalkan to Belek

Kalkan and Belek sit at opposite ends of a very different kind of Turkish holiday. Kalkan is a hillside town of whitewashed stone houses, steep lanes and candlelit terraces above a small harbour. Belek is a flat, green resort district of pine forest, long sand beaches and golf courses, built for big family hotels and easy days. Travelling between the two means swapping one style of Mediterranean life for the other, and a private transfer lets you do it without a single change of vehicle.

The distance is 161 km, and the drive takes about 169 minutes, which is 2 hours 49 minutes, in normal traffic. That is a real morning or afternoon on the road, so it helps to know what to expect before you book. This guide covers the drive, the arrival in Belek, the different corners of the resort, and the practical details of timing, luggage, children and flights. Turkey Transfer arranges the car and the driver. You decide the pace, the stops and the pickup time.

The Drive from Kalkan to Belek

Your journey begins in Kalkan itself. Many villas and hotels stand on steep, narrow lanes above the town, and some are hard to find on a map. Your driver gets the exact address and any access notes in advance, so the car comes to your door and not to a meeting point at the bottom of the hill. Luggage goes into the boot, the air conditioning is already running, and you can look back at the bay as the road climbs out of town.

From Kalkan the route follows the coastal D400 highway eastward. The first stretch runs towards Kaş along one of the most scenic roads on the Turquoise Coast. The road clings to the cliffs, with the sea far below and pine-covered slopes rising on the other side. Along this section you pass Kaputaş Beach, a narrow cove of very clear turquoise water squeezed between two cliffs, with a long staircase running down from the road. Even if you do not want to swim, it is the best photo stop of the whole drive, and a short pause of ten or fifteen minutes is easy to arrange.

After Kaş, the road leaves the most dramatic coastline behind. The country opens into a wide strip of farmland and greenhouses, with the Taurus mountains standing inland. Further along, the highway runs near the coastal towns of the Antalya province. It then continues past the pine slopes of the Kemer area, before it reaches the outskirts of Antalya city. Belek lies on the far side of Antalya, on the flat plain of the gulf, and the last part of the drive is quicker and straighter than the first.

Because this is a long coastal road, the pace changes along the way. The Kalkan end is slow and winding. The middle is a steady highway drive. The Antalya end can get busy, especially on summer afternoons when traffic from the city and the airport builds up. A driver who knows the road reads these changes and keeps the time on the clock close to the 2 hours 49 minutes that normal conditions give.

Typical and Busy Times on the Road

The figure of 169 minutes is the time in normal traffic. A few things can add to it.

  • Summer weekends and afternoons. July and August bring more cars to the coast. The sections near Antalya city are the most likely to slow down.
  • Stops. A photo stop at Kaputaş, a coffee break in Kaş, or a toilet and fuel stop each add time. A long journey of nearly three hours usually has at least one short break, so plan for it.
  • Slow vehicles on the winding sections. The cliff road near Kalkan and Kaş has few places to overtake. A tractor or a coach can set the speed for a few kilometres.
  • Early morning and late evening. These are the quietest hours on the highway, and the drive is calm and fast.

A good rule is to add half an hour to the pure driving time when you plan your day. That gives room for a stop and for the busy sections without any stress. If you have a check-in time at a Belek hotel, leave Kalkan early enough that you arrive in the afternoon with time to spare.

Arrival and Drop-Off in Belek

Belek is a planned resort district, and its geography is easy to understand once you arrive. The main road runs through a belt of pine forest, with hotel entrances set back along it. Most large hotels stand behind gates and long drives, and many are right on the beach side of the road. Your driver takes you through the gate to the main entrance, not to the roadside, which matters when you travel with children, golf bags or several large suitcases.

For a smooth arrival, send these details when you book:

  • The full name of your hotel, and the name of the Belek area if you know it.
  • The reservation name, so the reception can find your booking quickly.
  • The number of passengers and the number of bags, including any golf equipment or a pushchair.
  • A phone number or WhatsApp contact that works during your trip.

Hotel check-in often starts in the afternoon. If you arrive in the morning, ask the reception to store your bags. Many resorts will let you use the pool, the beach and the restaurants while you wait for the room. The driver unloads at the entrance, and the hotel porters take the bags from there.

Belek Compared with Kalkan

Kalkan is small and vertical. Almost everything involves a staircase or a slope, the beaches are small coves, and many guests stay in private villas. Belek is flat and made for resort stays. The hotels are large, with their own gardens, pools and beach, and evenings centre on hotel restaurants. Many travellers spend a week in Kalkan for villa life and old-town evenings, then finish with a few days in a Belek resort. The 161 km between them is the link.

Areas of Belek and Who Each Suits

Belek is not one single place. A few clear areas make up the resort district, and knowing them helps you pick a hotel and plan your days.

The beachfront hotel belt. Most of the big resorts stand in a row along the sand, between the pine forest and the sea. This is the classic Belek holiday. You walk from your room to the beach, and the hotel handles meals, pools and activities. It suits families, couples and groups who want a simple, all-in-one stay.

The golf resorts. Belek is known as Turkey's golf capital, with around 14 championship courses according to the route guide. Several hotels stand on or beside the courses. These are the choice for golfers who want to walk from the room to the first tee. Golf bags are no problem for us. Tell us how many you have, and we match the vehicle to the group and the equipment.

The village side of Belek. Behind the hotel zone there is the small town of Belek itself, with local shops, cafes and restaurants. It gives a more everyday feel than the hotel grounds. It suits guests who like to leave the hotel for an evening meal.

Kadriye and the neighbouring area. To the east of Belek the district continues towards Kadriye and the Boğazkent side. These areas have more hotels, a long beach and a mix of resort and local life. They suit guests who want a quieter stay and a bit more variety.

If you have not yet chosen a hotel, think about what you want from your first days. A golfer wants a course. A family with young children wants a gentle beach and a kids' club. A couple may want a quiet spa hotel. All three can be reached by the same transfer from Kalkan.

Beaches, Pine Forest and Nature in Belek

Belek's coast is a long strip of fine sand with shallow, calm water in many places. This is very different from the small, deep coves near Kalkan. Children can walk far out before the water reaches their waists, which is why families like it. The beach is backed by pine forest, so there is shade close to the sand.

The beach also has a natural side. The coast near Belek is known as a nesting area for loggerhead sea turtles in the summer months. Respecting any rules posted on the sand is part of a Belek beach holiday.

The pine forest around the resort gives pleasant walks and cycle rides, and many hotels rent bicycles. In the early morning the air under the trees is cool and smells of resin, which makes a good time for a walk before the heat comes.

Food and Evenings in Belek

Dining in Belek works differently from Kalkan. In Kalkan you walk down to the harbour and choose a terrace. In Belek, most guests eat in their hotel, where many resorts offer buffet and a la carte restaurants. Some hotels have Turkish, Italian, Asian and fish restaurants on the same site, so a week passes without repeating a meal.

If you want to eat outside the hotel, the village side of Belek has local restaurants serving Turkish grills, pide, fresh fish and meze. A short taxi ride takes you there from most hotels. For a bigger evening out, Antalya city is not far to the west, and its old town has many restaurants and bars.

Evenings in Belek are generally calm. Hotels run shows, live music and children's entertainment, and there are pubs and bars near the main road. Guests used to the quiet of Kalkan will find Belek livelier in its own way but still organised and family-friendly. It is not a late-night party district.

Families and Children

A transfer of nearly three hours is a long time for children, and it helps to plan for it.

  • Child seats. Tell us the age and weight of each child when you book, so we fit the correct infant or child seat before pickup. This takes away one worry on the day.
  • Breaks. For small children, ask for a short stop. Kaputaş is a good place for a stretch, and a fuel station further on gives toilets and snacks.
  • Snacks and drinks. Pack water, fruit and a few favourite snacks in the cabin bag, not the boot. The car is air-conditioned, but long drives make children thirsty.
  • Entertainment. Tablets, books and music make the time pass. The road scenery near Kalkan and Kaş is also worth watching in the first hour.
  • Timing. Many families leave after breakfast, so the children sleep or rest in the middle of the drive and arrive in Belek in the afternoon.

Belek is a very good place for children once you arrive. The beaches are shallow, the hotels have kids' clubs and water parks, and the resorts are safe and enclosed. A smooth transfer from Kalkan is the start of an easy family week.

Late-Night and Early-Morning Transfers

Many guests do not move on a normal daytime schedule, and a long transfer can start or end at an unusual hour.

Early start from Kalkan. If you want to reach Belek by breakfast or by an early check-in, you can leave Kalkan before sunrise. The roads are quiet, the light on the coast is beautiful, and you arrive with the whole day ahead. Tell us the time you want to leave, and the driver is at your door.

Late departure. If you finish a villa stay in the evening, you can leave after dinner and arrive late at night. Hotel reception in Belek normally stays staffed, but confirm the late arrival with the hotel before you travel, so your room is held. Remember that the drive is 2 hours 49 minutes in normal traffic, so a departure at 20:00 means a Belek arrival close to 23:00 with stops.

Flight connections. If you are catching a flight from Antalya Airport after your Belek stay, or planning to arrive from one, share the flight time when you book. The airport lies between Antalya city and Belek, so the final part of the drive is short from a Belek hotel. Always leave time before a flight, and do not plan a tight connection after a transfer of nearly three hours.

For all of these, a message on WhatsApp to confirm the pickup time the day before keeps everything clear.

The Return Trip and Airport Timing

Most guests who go from Kalkan to Belek stay for several days, and the return journey is a separate booking in the other direction. A few points help you plan it.

Belek to Antalya Airport. Antalya Airport is a short drive from the Belek hotel zone, usually well under an hour in normal traffic. For an international flight, plan to be at the airport about three hours before departure. In July and August, when the terminal is busy, leave your Belek hotel with extra margin. Ask your driver for a pickup time that suits your flight, and he will count back from check-in, not from take-off.

Belek back to Kalkan. The reverse of this route takes the same 169 minutes in normal traffic. If you return to a Kalkan villa, remember that its check-in may be in the afternoon, so an early morning start from Belek may mean waiting. Plan the pickup around the villa's own time.

Kalkan to Dalaman Airport. If you are flying home from Dalaman rather than Antalya, note that Dalaman Airport is roughly 120 km from Kalkan, and takes around 1.5 to 2 hours by road depending on traffic, according to the destination guide. Most Kalkan guests fly into Dalaman, so check which airport your ticket uses. This is a common mix-up when travellers combine two resorts in one trip.

Check the flight times. Our drivers track your flight when it is part of the booking, so a late landing does not leave you without a car. Share your flight number on WhatsApp, and we handle the timing from there.

Day Trips from Belek

If you stay in Belek for a week, you will want to leave the hotel at least once. The district is close to some of the most important ancient sites on the Turkish coast.

  • Aspendos. The Roman theatre at Aspendos is among the best-preserved in the Mediterranean world. It lies a short drive from Belek and is an easy half-day trip.
  • Side. The ancient town of Side has a Roman theatre, the Temple of Apollo on the seafront, and a harbour with restaurants. It is a pleasant afternoon and a good evening out.
  • Perge. This ancient city near Antalya has a long colonnaded street and a stadium. It is quieter than the better-known sites.
  • Antalya Old Town. The old quarter, known as Kaleici, has narrow lanes, Ottoman houses, a small harbour and many cafes. It is the best place to see the city's history in a few hours.
  • Manavgat waterfall and the Manavgat river. A boat trip on the river is a cooler option in the heat of summer.
  • Duden waterfalls. The falls in Antalya city drop towards the sea and give a green, cool stop.
  • Termessos. A mountain site above Antalya, set among pine slopes. It suits guests who like walking.

A private car makes these trips easy. You can combine two sites in one day and avoid the dolmus and bus connections.

Before You Leave Kalkan

If you have a free morning before the transfer, the destination offers plenty. Kaputaş Beach lies about ten minutes from Kalkan on the road to Kaş. Kalamar Bay is a calmer stretch of coast close to the centre. Patara, 15 to 20 minutes away, has one of the longest sand beaches on the Mediterranean, a loggerhead turtle nesting site, and a Lycian theatre. Xanthos and Letoon, UNESCO World Heritage sites, lie 30 to 40 minutes from town. Kaputaş fits easily into the transfer itself. The others work best as separate trips before you move on.

Why a Private Transfer Beats the Bus or a Street Taxi

There is no direct bus between Kalkan and Belek. Public transport means a change at the main bus station in Antalya, waiting time, and carrying luggage from one vehicle to another. Over this distance the journey can use the whole day, and it is hard with children, golf bags or a pushchair. A street taxi works on a meter, so the cost of a long route is hard to predict, and few drivers speak much English. A private transfer is different. You book it before you travel, the car is for your group only, the driver speaks English and Turkish, and the route is door to door. Child and infant seats are available on request, and the driver stops where you ask within a sensible plan.

Luggage, Golf Bags and Group Size

This route is popular with golfers, so luggage is a real topic. A standard car takes a few suitcases, but golf bags use a lot of space. Tell us how many bags and how many people, and we plan a larger vehicle where needed. The same applies to a big family with a pushchair and a car seat, or a wedding party moving between Kalkan and a Belek venue. Give us the guest numbers and the event timing, and we plan the cars around it.

Seasons and the Best Time to Travel

Both places have long, hot summers and short, mild winters. The sea reaches about 28 degrees Celsius in August, and May to October is the main beach and sailing season.

Spring (April to May). The coast is green, the days are warm and the sea is still fresh. It is a good time for sightseeing and for golf. The road is quieter than in summer.

Summer (June to September). Hot, dry and busy. The beaches and the resorts are at their best, but the road is busier and the afternoon heat is strong. Start the transfer early in the morning, if you can, to avoid the hottest hours and the heavier traffic near Antalya.

Autumn (October to November). The sea is still warm and the crowds are thinner. Belek is very popular with golfers in these months because of the comfortable temperatures. It is probably the best season for this transfer.

Winter (December to March). Mild but with more rain. Kalkan is quiet, and many small businesses close for the season. Belek stays open in parts, and golf continues through the cooler months. Check the weather before a long coastal drive, because heavy rain can slow the cliff road.

Booking Your Transfer

Booking is simple. Share your pickup address in Kalkan, your hotel in Belek, the date and time, the number of passengers and bags, and any special needs such as child seats or golf equipment. If your plans change, send us a message on WhatsApp, and we adjust the pickup time. A clear plan on both sides makes a long journey calm and easy.
