The ground truth
49 Kalkan hotels sit in our pickup index, so your driver gets the entrance, not the district.
Kalkan is one of the most refined resort towns on Turkey's Turquoise Coast, tucked into the Kaş district of Antalya province. Once a small Greek fishing village, it has grown into a low-rise hillside town of whitewashed stone houses, bougainvillea-draped lanes, and candlelit rooftop restaurants looking out over the bay. It has long been a favourite with British and other European holidaymakers - many now own villas in the hills around town - and the atmosphere reflects that: relaxed, a little upmarket, but never brash. Kalkan isn't a party resort or a mass-tourism strip; it's more of a discovered-but-unspoiled corner of the Mediterranean.
The heart of Kalkan is its Old Town, a maze of stone-stepped lanes climbing the hillside above the sea. Walk down through it and you reach the small, picturesque harbour, lined with yachts and gulet boats and, in the evenings, full of people strolling before dinner. The harbour is also the departure point for day boat trips along the coast towards Kaş and the sunken ruins of Kekova, and for longer "blue cruise" gulet charters in summer.
Kalkan itself has limited beach frontage, but it's surrounded by some of Turkey's most photographed coves. About a 10-minute taxi ride along the Kalkan-Kaş road is Kaputaş Beach - a narrow strip of sand reached down a long staircase, famous for its turquoise water and dramatic cliffs. Closer to the centre, Kalamar Bay is a calmer, more family-friendly stretch of coastline, and a number of hotels sit right along it. Both are a short taxi call away - there's no need to wait for a dolmuş.
Kalkan sits right in the middle of ancient Lycia, so the list of worthwhile day trips is long. A 15-20 minute taxi ride takes you to Patara Beach and the ancient city of Patara - one of the longest sand beaches on the Mediterranean, a nesting site for loggerhead (caretta caretta) sea turtles, and home to substantial Lycian ruins including a well-preserved theatre. Further inland, roughly 30-40 minutes away, are the UNESCO World Heritage sites of Xanthos and Letoon. A trip up into the mountains to the village of Islamlar, known for its trout-farm restaurants, is another classic half-day out. A little further afield, towards Fethiye, are Saklıkent Gorge and the boat-access-only sunken city of Kekova. For all of these, a taxi door-to-door is usually far easier than public transport, especially if you're travelling as a group.
We've been driving guests to Kalkan for years and know the town's hotels well. Among the properties we transfer to regularly are The Rhapsody Hotel, the sea-facing Kalamar Hotel, the central Kelebek Hotel, and Meldi Hotel. Wherever you're staying, we note the exact location, check-in time, and any access instructions in advance, so the driver can take you straight to the door.
Dalaman Airport (DLB) is the nearest gateway to Kalkan, roughly 120 km away and around 1.5-2 hours by road depending on traffic. Antalya Airport is an option too, but it's a good 200 km further, which is why most of our Kalkan guests fly into Dalaman. Our transfer is door-to-door: your driver waits at arrivals with a name board, helps with luggage, and drives you straight to your hotel. We track your flight, so a late or delayed landing doesn't change anything - the driver will be there. The price is fixed at a fixed fare confirmed at booking, agreed before you travel, with no surprise extras on arrival.
We're a small, family-run transfer company based in Antalya - not a big fleet or a "luxury Mercedes" brand, just honest pricing and a driver who actually knows the region. Kalkan is spread across a hillside of narrow lanes and villa complexes that aren't always easy to find on a map; because we've been coming here for years, we know the shortcuts, the site entrances, and which hotels sit where. You can confirm your booking and share your flight number over WhatsApp, so there's always a direct line if plans change.
