Kaleiçi is Muratpaşa's historic core — a walled harbour quarter where Roman, Seljuk and Ottoman layers sit on top of each other. Walk in through Hadrian's Gate (Üçkapılar), a Roman triumphal arch built for Emperor Hadrian's visit in 130 AD, and you're in a maze of cobbled lanes lined with restored Ottoman houses turned into boutique hotels and small cafés. The Yivli Minare (Fluted Minaret) is the city's best-known landmark; the ruined Kesik Minare stands nearby. The Clock Tower and Cumhuriyet (Republic) Square mark the edge of the old town facing the modern city. Down at the old harbour, now Kaleiçi Marina, boat trips leave regularly for a look at the coast from the water — usually a short 10-15 minute taxi ride from your hotel.

At the eastern end of Muratpaşa lies Lara, one of Antalya's busiest resort strips, with kilometres of sandy beach and a long line of large hotels. Right alongside the beach, the Lower Düden Waterfalls (Karpuzkaldıran) drop straight off a cliff into the sea — a genuinely striking sight and an easy short taxi trip for photos. Many Lara hotels are actually closer to the airport than Kaleiçi is, which shortens the transfer time nicely.

Karaalioğlu Park and Atatürk Park run along the clifftop with sea views, and locals use them for evening walks as much as visitors do. Inside Karaalioğlu Park stands Hıdırlık Tower, a small but genuinely Roman-era structure. The Antalya Archaeology Museum is one of Turkey's finest, holding statues and finds excavated from Perge and other nearby ancient cities. Just next door in neighbouring Konyaaltı district, Konyaaltı Beach and Antalya Aquarium are both a short 10-15 minute taxi ride from central Muratpaşa.

Antalya Airport (AYT) sits about 12 km from Muratpaşa — roughly 20-25 minutes depending on traffic. Lara-side hotels are a touch closer, Kaleiçi and the city centre a little further, but either way it's a short hop. Because Muratpaşa is so central, most of the region's big sights are within a single taxi ride. Perge, the ancient city with its stadium and colonnaded street, is about 20-25 minutes away. Aspendos, home to the best-preserved Roman theatre in the world, takes roughly 45 minutes. Termessos, the mountain city, is a similar drive up into the hills.
