Private Transfer from Evrenseki to Dalaman Airport
Evrenseki sits on the Manavgat coast beside the ancient town of Side. It is a spread-out, family-minded resort strip of long sand, citrus groves and pine forest. Dalaman Airport (DLM) lies in a different part of Turkey. The road between the two covers about 237 km and takes about 249 minutes, which is a little over four hours of driving before you add a single stop.
This is a long transfer, and we say so plainly. Nobody takes it by accident. Most guests on this page have a reason, and the sections below cover the reasons, the road, the timing of your departure and the places you can enjoy on the way. If you are still deciding whether Dalaman is the right airport for your trip, the first section is for you.
Why fly from Dalaman when you are staying in Evrenseki
Antalya Airport (AYT) is the obvious gateway for Evrenseki. It is roughly 62 km from the resort and the drive takes about 60 to 70 minutes along the D-400 highway through Manavgat. Guests who choose Dalaman for the flight home are therefore making a deliberate decision. The common reasons are these:
- A better flight. A charter or scheduled flight from Dalaman may be cheaper, may leave at a more convenient time, or may be the only direct connection to your home airport. Many holidaymakers from the UK and northern Europe find a Dalaman departure on their booking, and they cannot change it.
- A two-centre holiday. Some travellers spend the first week at Evrenseki and Side, then move west for their last nights around Fethiye, Ölüdeniz, Göcek or Dalyan. If you plan to do this, your trip to the airport starts from the hotel in Evrenseki and ends at Dalaman, with the scenery of two coastlines in between.
- A group or family trip. A large family with suitcases, pushchairs and children is often better served by one private vehicle than by a series of buses and connecting rides. The price is per vehicle, not per person, so the cost divides across the whole party.
- A one-way coastal journey. Some guests treat the transfer as part of the holiday itself. They want to see the western Mediterranean coast from a comfortable seat, without driving it themselves.
If none of these fits, check your booking again. A return flight from Antalya would save you most of the day. If Dalaman is correct, read on.
The drive: from Evrenseki to the Lycian coast
The journey runs in a broad arc around the Gulf of Antalya and then along the mountainous Lycian shore. It has four rough stages.
Stage one: leaving Evrenseki. Your driver collects you from your hotel or villa in Evrenseki. The first kilometres follow the coast road toward the D-400 and the Manavgat area. This stretch is flat and fast, and it passes through the same landscape you know from your holiday: orange and citrus groves, small roadside stalls and the pale line of the Taurus mountains inland. Early in the morning the traffic is light.
Stage two: around Antalya. The road continues west across the plain toward Antalya, the biggest city on the coast. The route passes the city's outskirts and the airport area, then heads on toward Kemer. This is the part of the trip where traffic can slow the schedule. In July and August the roads around Antalya fill with airport traffic, hotel coaches and day-trip vehicles. An early start keeps you ahead of most of it.
Stage three: the mountain coast. After Antalya the landscape changes. The Taurus mountains drop close to the sea. The road passes Kemer, Tekirova and the area of Olympos and Çıralı, where the pine-covered slopes meet blue water. It then runs on through the Kumluca and Finike districts and toward Demre, which is the region of ancient Myra and Kekova. The road is winding and scenic, with long curves above the water and frequent glimpses of small bays. This is the slowest and most beautiful part of the drive.
Stage four: Kaş, Kalkan and Fethiye. The last long section passes Kaş and Kalkan, two of the most photographed small towns on the Turkish coast, then continues toward Fethiye and Göcek before the airport at Dalaman. The final approach is on a more open road through the Dalaman plain.
Because the coast road is mountainous and has many bends, the real time varies with traffic, roadworks and stops. The 249 minutes of driving is the base figure. A realistic plan always adds rest stops and some buffer.
Typical times and busy times
Early mornings and late evenings are the calmest. The road is quietest before the beach crowds start moving, and the light is soft over the sea. In the middle of the day in high season the road carries more coaches, tour vehicles and local traffic, so the drive is slower and the stops are more crowded.
In the shoulder months of April, May, October and early November, the road is lighter and the temperatures are easier for a long drive. In peak summer, the heat inside a parked vehicle is a factor, which is why your driver keeps the air conditioning running and plans stops in shaded or well-equipped places.
Planning your pickup time
Work backwards from your flight. For an international departure, most guests aim to reach the airport roughly three hours before takeoff, so that bag drop, passport control and security are unhurried. Then add the 249 minutes of driving, then add time for stops, then add a buffer for traffic.
As an example, imagine a flight at 15:00. You would aim to arrive at Dalaman near 12:00. Subtract the driving time of about four hours and nine minutes, and you reach roughly 07:50. Add a breakfast or restroom stop and a margin for the mountain road, and a pickup around 07:00 or a little earlier is sensible. For a morning flight, the pickup often falls in the middle of the night. For an evening flight, the pickup is a relaxed mid-morning start.
When you book, give us your flight number and departure time. We calculate the pickup from those details. Because the distance is long, we set the pickup early on purpose. An extra half hour at the airport costs you a coffee. A missed flight costs far more.
Stops along the way
On a drive of this length, stops are part of the plan. Your driver arranges restroom, tea and, if needed, food breaks before they become urgent. This matters most for families with small children and for older travellers.
If you have time and want to turn the transfer into a small outing, you can ask for a short extra stop. These are some natural choices on the route:
- Kalkan. A pretty hillside town above a small harbour, with a good place for a coffee and a view of the bay.
- Patara. The long sandy beach and the ruins of an ancient Lycian city. It is a good place to stretch your legs and take photographs. Patara is also one of the best-known nesting beaches for sea turtles on this coast.
- Kaş. A relaxed harbour town with small shops and cafes along narrow lanes.
- Olympos and Çıralı. A forested valley with ancient ruins, close to the shore.
- Demre. The area around ancient Myra, famous for its rock-cut tombs and the church linked with St Nicholas.
Tell us before the day if you want a particular stop. We will tell you how it affects your timing. If your flight is early, we keep the stops short and practical.
Comfort on a long ride
The vehicle is private, so you do not share it with other passengers and it does not detour to pick up anyone else. You travel with your own luggage, at your own pace.
- Air conditioning keeps the cabin comfortable in the summer heat.
- Child and infant seats are available on request. Tell us the child's age when you book, and the correct seat will be in the vehicle.
- Luggage space is matched to your party. Tell us how many people and how many large bags you are carrying, and we choose a suitable vehicle. A family of five with four suitcases needs a different vehicle from a couple with two.
- Language. Our team supports you in Turkish, English, German and Russian before the trip.
If you are prone to motion sickness, mention it when you book. The winding sections along the Lycian coast are more noticeable than the flat highway near Evrenseki. Sit in the front, keep the window cracked open, and take a short break when you feel uncomfortable. Your driver can slow the pace on request.
Arrival and drop-off at Dalaman Airport
Dalaman is a busy holiday airport, particularly on summer weekends when many charter flights depart in the same few hours. Your driver brings you to the terminal departures area and helps unload your bags. You then walk straight into the check-in hall.
Here is a simple plan for the airport:
- Keep passports and boarding documents in your hand luggage, not in a suitcase.
- Go to the airline check-in desk or bag drop for your flight.
- Allow time for passport control and security.
- Keep a little time for a coffee or last shopping before the gate.
Setting off from Evrenseki: the first part of your day
Many guests leave a resort that feels very different from the place they will see through the window in the afternoon. Evrenseki is a quiet area with one of the longest sandy beaches in the region, backed by citrus groves on one side and the Sorgun pine forest on the other. It is more residential and family-oriented than Side itself, and the hotels are mostly all-inclusive resorts rather than bars.
We regularly collect guests from hotels along this strip, including Amara Family Resort, J'Adore Deluxe Hotel & Spa, Lake & River Side and Hotel Andria. We know where reception sits and where the driver should pull up. Give us your hotel name and room details when you book.
For an early departure, remember your hotel's check-out and breakfast routine. If you leave before the breakfast service opens, ask your hotel at reception the evening before whether a packed breakfast is possible.
If you leave at night, finding a taxi on the street in Evrenseki can be difficult because it is a small resort area. This is exactly why a transfer arranged in advance is useful on a long trip. Your driver arrives at the agreed time, and you do not have to search for transport at dawn.
What the western coast offers if you stay on
The reason many guests choose Dalaman is the part of Turkey around it. If you are considering a few nights in the west before your flight, this section helps you choose a base. Each area suits a different kind of traveller.
Fethiye. A busy harbour town and the main centre for the region. It has a marina, a waterfront promenade, an old bazaar quarter, ancient rock tombs cut into the hillside above the town and plenty of restaurants. It suits guests who want a real town with services and an easy base for boat trips.
Ölüdeniz. Known for its sheltered lagoon, a long pebble and sand shoreline and the mountain behind it, which attracts paragliders. It suits couples and families who want beach days and an active holiday. It is busy in high season, and the lagoon is a protected nature area.
Çalış and Hisarönü. Çalış is a long beachfront strip near Fethiye, suited to guests who prefer an easy seafront walk and sunsets over the bay. Hisarönü and Ovacık are inland and livelier, with many bars and restaurants. They suit guests who want evening entertainment.
Göcek. A quiet, elegant yacht harbour surrounded by pine-covered hills and a bay with many small islands. It suits guests who want a calm holiday, boat days and a good dinner by the water. It is close to the airport side of the region, which makes it a good last stop before a flight.
Dalyan. Set on a river with reed beds, with the rock tombs of ancient Kaunos cut into the cliffs and the long Iztuzu beach nearby. It suits families and nature lovers, particularly those who enjoy boat trips on the river.
Dalaman. The town itself is a practical stop close to the airport, with fewer tourist attractions than its neighbours. It suits guests with a very early flight who want to sleep near the terminal.
Kalkan and Kaş. These two towns lie on the route and each makes a good place to break the journey for a night. Kalkan is known for its small harbour and hillside villas. Kaş is known for its relaxed old quarter, diving and the views toward the Greek island of Meis.
Day trips and sights near Dalaman
If you decide to spend a few days in the west before flying, the area offers a lot within a short ride of the airport:
- Ölüdeniz and the Blue Lagoon. Beach time and boat trips.
- Butterfly Valley. A secluded cove reached by boat from Ölüdeniz.
- Kayaköy. A hillside village of abandoned stone houses from the early twentieth century, now a quiet open-air site.
- Saklıkent Gorge. A deep gorge with cold water, popular in summer heat.
- Tlos, Xanthos and Letoon. Ancient Lycian sites for travellers who like history. Xanthos and Letoon are listed as World Heritage sites.
- Dalyan river trip. Boat rides to the ancient rock tombs of Kaunos and the beach at Iztuzu.
- Göcek islands. Day boat trips with swimming stops in quiet bays.
You do not need to see all of these. A single day trip adds a pleasant contrast to a week at a resort like Evrenseki.
Food and evenings on the way
Long drives work better when meals are planned. In the early morning, a simple Turkish breakfast of bread, tomatoes, cucumber, cheese, olives and tea gives you energy for the first part of the road. Many roadside cafes along the coast serve simple grilled food, fresh fruit and strong coffee. Kalkan and Kaş offer a wide choice of harbour restaurants for lunch.
If you stay overnight in Fethiye, Göcek or Dalyan before your flight, you will find a different evening atmosphere from Evrenseki. Fethiye has a lively harbour, Göcek has quiet waterfront dining, and Dalyan has small riverside restaurants. For a last evening, a long relaxed dinner is easier when you know your transfer to the airport is arranged.
Travelling with children
The length of this transfer deserves some preparation if you have young children.
- Book the correct child seat and tell us the age of each child.
- Pack small snacks, water and quiet toys within reach.
- Ask the driver for a restroom stop before the children become restless.
- Keep one set of spare clothes in your hand luggage.
- Start the day early, so the children can nap in the vehicle during the quieter parts of the road.
Children often handle a long private ride better than a crowded bus, because they can stretch out, snack and take stops as needed. The vehicle is yours alone, and the driver does not pick up other passengers.
Early and late flights
Dalaman has flights at many times of day, including early morning departures and late-night flights.
Early flights. If your flight leaves in the morning, the pickup from Evrenseki is during the night. Because you travel by night, the road is quiet, and the drive can be faster than in the middle of the day. Even so, the winding sections remain slow and dark, and we plan with a buffer.
Late flights. If your flight leaves in the evening or at night, you have a free day. You can enjoy breakfast, a last swim and a relaxed check-out, then leave at a comfortable hour. Late flights also give you the option of a longer stop at Kalkan, Patara or Kaş on the way.
Delayed flights. If your departure time changes, tell us as soon as you know. We then review the pickup.
Seasons and weather on the route
The Mediterranean climate gives hot, dry summers and mild winters. The sea season runs from April to November.
- Summer (June to September). Hot weather, busy roads, strong sunshine. Start early, drink water and keep the cabin cool.
- Spring (April and May). Pleasant temperatures, green hills and lighter traffic. A very good time for the coast road.
- Autumn (October and early November). Warm sea, calmer roads and softer light.
- Winter (December to March). Mild but wetter. Mountain sections can be rainy, and flights are fewer. Allow extra time for weather.
Why a private transfer suits this route
A 237 km journey is a different kind of trip from a short airport run. A private transfer suits it for several reasons:
- Timed to your flight. We calculate your pickup around your departure and check-in window, so you do not need to watch the clock all day.
- Door to door. We collect you at your hotel or villa and take you to the terminal. You make no changes of vehicle and you do not carry bags through a bus station.
- Your own pace. You decide when to stop, and the driver adapts.
- No sharing. The vehicle does not collect other passengers on the route.
- Price per vehicle. The price covers the vehicle, not each person, so the cost divides across the whole group. Ask for the amount when you book.
What is included
The booking covers a private vehicle, an experienced local driver, fuel, road and toll costs, and air-conditioned comfort. Child and infant seats are available on request. Our team supports you in Turkish, English, German and Russian, and you can reach us on WhatsApp if your plans change.
Booking and flight details
When you book, share your flight number, your departure time, your hotel name in Evrenseki and the number of passengers and bags. If you want stops at Kalkan, Patara or Kaş, say so in the booking notes. We then set a generous pickup time and plan the schedule around your departure.
Our drivers know Evrenseki and the Side area well. They choose the best departure window for your day, and they know where to pull up at your hotel. All you need to do is settle into your seat, enjoy the coastline and arrive at Dalaman with time to spare.
A calm start to the journey home
A long transfer works best when the first hour is calm. Prepare the evening before, check out without hurry and leave on time. If you do, the drive from Evrenseki becomes a last chapter of your holiday: citrus groves and pine forest behind you, then the Taurus mountains, then the wide blue water of the Lycian coast, and finally the plain of Dalaman and your flight home.
