Belek to Antalya City Center: From the Golf Coast to the Old Town

Belek is Turkey's golf capital, a belt of pine forest, wide sandy beach and five-star resorts that sits behind its own gates and keeps the everyday world at a distance. Central Antalya is the opposite. It is a living city with a walled old quarter, a Roman gate, a yacht harbour, busy boulevards and a long pebble beach beneath the Taurus Mountains. Between the two lie 31 km of road and about 33 minutes of driving, which makes the transfer short enough for a spontaneous day out and comfortable enough for a one-night stay in town.

This guide covers the whole journey with Turkey Transfer. It explains the drive, the pickup in Belek, the drop-off in the city, the districts you can choose from, and what to do once you arrive. It also covers the return trip, late nights, children, day trips and the seasons.

The Drive: 31 km in About 33 Minutes

Your car leaves the Belek resort zone by the access roads that serve the golf courses and the big hotel gates. These roads run through pine and eucalyptus forest. You pass the Land of Legends theme park area and then join the D400, the coastal highway that links the whole Mediterranean shoreline. From Belek the D400 runs west toward Antalya.

The scenery changes in stages. First comes the green, protected feel of Belek, where the forest closes in on both sides. Then the road moves through the flat farmland and small settlements of the Aksu and Kadriye area, with greenhouses, orchards and roadside produce stalls. The Aksu River crossing marks the point where the open plain gives way to the city. After that, the apartment blocks of eastern Antalya take over from the fields, and the Taurus range stands high on the horizon to the north and west.

The airport lies on this same corridor, on the eastern side of Antalya. You pass close to its perimeter on the way into town. In the summer holiday season this is the part of the route where the car meets the most traffic, because airport shuttles, rental cars and local commuters all use the same stretch of road.

Here is how the 33-minute figure behaves in practice:

  • In the middle of the day outside the peak weeks, the drive is usually smooth and close to the published time.
  • In the morning and early evening, the stretch through Aksu and the eastern approaches to the city can slow down. Add a little extra time if you have a firm commitment, such as a restaurant booking or a boat departure.
  • On busy summer weekends and around the arrival and departure waves at the airport, the D400 can move slowly. Your driver can leave the main road for the parallel service roads when that saves time.
  • Late in the evening and at night, the road is much quieter and the trip can be quicker than the average.

The drive is straightforward, so you can look out of the window, rest after a round of golf or a long beach day, or check your map for the evening ahead.

Pickup in Belek

Belek's resorts are large, spread out and behind security gates. A taxi rank on a main road is not a useful idea here, so the pickup is arranged at your hotel. Your driver meets you at the lobby or reception at the time you agreed when booking. The driver helps with luggage and drives you to your chosen address in the city.

A few practical points make the start of the trip smoother:

  • Give the exact hotel name when you book. Belek has many large properties with similar names, and the main gate can be a long walk from the beach side.
  • If your hotel is a sprawling complex, say which block or entrance you will use. Some resorts have a separate reception for villas or suites.
  • Be at the lobby a few minutes early. Golf bags, strollers and big suitcases take a moment to load.
  • If you play a morning round, allow time to shower, check out of your room or pack. Tell the driver your real finish time rather than your tee time.

The vehicle is chosen to match your group. If you travel with clubs, a child seat or extra luggage, mention it when you book and the right car is sent.

Arrival and Drop-Off in the City

"Antalya city center" is a big area, and the useful part of a private transfer is that the car goes to your exact address. You do not need to decide in advance between the old town, a beach hotel or an apartment. You only need an address or a hotel name.

Some places have a special arrival situation:

  • Kaleiçi old town. The old quarter has narrow lanes, some pedestrian-only zones and one-way streets. The car stops at the nearest point that vehicles can reach, usually at the edge of the old town or at the hotel entrance if the lane allows. From there it can be a short walk with a suitcase on cobbles. Travel light if you can, and tell the driver the name of your guesthouse so the best approach is used.
  • Lara. The hotel strip east of the centre has wide roads and large entrances. Drop-off is simple and the car goes straight to the door.
  • Konyaaltı. The west side of the city has long avenues along the beach, and drop-off at hotels and apartments is easy. Parking for a short stop is normally not a problem.
  • Işıklar Caddesi, Cumhuriyet Square and the shopping areas. These are busy, with trams and heavy foot traffic. The driver chooses a safe stop close to your address. If you are not sure where the best drop-off is, say what you want to do first. A visit to the old harbour, a lunch in the old town and a walk through the lanes call for one stop. An evening in a Lara hotel or a stay near the tram line call for another.

Which Part of Antalya Suits You?

Antalya is a city of districts, each with a different mood. Picking the right one is the key to a good city stay from Belek.

Kaleiçi: History and Atmosphere

Kaleiçi is the walled old town on the cliff above the Old Harbour. It is the heart of the city for visitors who want history, restaurants, small hotels and evening walks. Hadrian's Gate, a triple-arched marble gateway built to honour the Roman emperor Hadrian, stands at the entrance. The fluted Yivli Minaret is the symbol of the city, and the Clock Tower and the Kesik Minaret are nearby landmarks. The Old Harbour below holds boats, restaurants and the starting point for sea trips.

Kaleiçi suits couples, history lovers, photographers and anyone who prefers to walk to dinner. It is less suited to travellers with heavy luggage, strollers or limited mobility, because of the uneven stone streets. Rooms in old Ottoman houses are charming but sometimes small.

Lara: Resort Beach and Big Hotels

Lara is the strip of large hotels and beach clubs east of the centre. It has sand and sea access, service-oriented hotels and easy transport for families. It is a good choice for guests who want to move from a Belek resort to another resort-style stay, but with a city nearby.

Lara suits families and groups who want a hotel base with a beach, and travellers who prefer comfort over atmosphere. It is farther from the old town, so a short ride is needed for sightseeing in the evening.

Konyaaltı: Long Pebble Beach and Mountains

Konyaaltı lies on the west side of the city and has a very long pebble beach with the Beydağları mountains rising straight behind the water. The sea is clear, and the sunset behind the mountains is popular with locals and visitors. A promenade, parks, cafés and beach areas line the shore, and the Antalya Museum and the aquarium are in this part of the city.

Konyaaltı suits travellers who like a spacious seafront, families who want a promenade for children, and visitors who want museums and open space. The beach is pebbles, not sand, so bring water shoes if you have small children.

Beaches, Old Town and Landmarks

If you come from Belek for a day in town, a simple plan fits most visits:

  1. Start in the old town. Walk under Hadrian's Gate and wander down the lanes toward the Old Harbour.
  2. Visit one museum or landmark. The Antalya Museum is one of the best-known archaeological museums on the Mediterranean coast and gives context for the ruins you may have seen at Perge or Aspendos.
  3. Have lunch in the old town or at the harbour.
  4. Spend the afternoon on a beach, in the park along the cliff, or in the shops.
  5. Finish with dinner on the cliff terraces and a walk back to the car.

Other places worth knowing:

  • Karaalioğlu Park is a long clifftop park with lawns, palm trees and sea views. It is a pleasant place for a walk in the late afternoon.
  • Hıdırlık Tower is an old stone tower near the edge of the cliff and a well-known viewpoint.
  • Mermerli Beach is a small beach below the old town, reached through the lanes, and a quiet alternative to the long city beaches.
  • Konyaaltı Beach is the main public beach, wide and long, with a good view of the mountains.
  • Düden Waterfalls, upper and lower, are easy to combine with a city day.

You do not need to see everything. The best city days from Belek are slow ones.

Food and Evenings

Belek is an all-inclusive destination. Most guests eat at their hotel, and the evening choices are the hotel's restaurants and entertainment. A trip into Antalya is the change of pace that many people want.

In the city you can choose between:

  • Old town and harbour restaurants with sea views, grilled fish, meze and Turkish grill dishes. These are good for a long, relaxed dinner.
  • Local cafés and tea gardens where you can try Turkish tea, strong coffee and desserts.
  • Beach cafés at Konyaaltı and Lara for a drink as the sun sets.

Plan the evening around your return. If you want to dine late, tell the driver what time you will finish and agree the pickup point. An evening in the old town can run long, and a return pickup at a set meeting point near the car access road avoids a long search for the driver after dinner.

Families and Children

Families use this route for a day in town or a short stay away from the resort. Some points matter for children:

  • Ask for a child seat when you book. Child seats are available on request and are best arranged in advance, with the age and weight of each child.
  • A 33-minute drive is easy for most children, but bring water, a snack and a small toy for the car.
  • The old town has uneven stone paving. A lightweight stroller or a carrier works better than a large pram.
  • The Konyaaltı promenade and the parks give children space to run. The aquarium and the waterfalls are good choices for wet-weather and hot-day plans.
  • In summer, avoid the middle of the day for walking in the old town. Spend it in a museum, an air-conditioned shop or a café, and walk in the late afternoon.

If you are a larger family, tell us the number of people and the number of suitcases. The vehicle size is matched to the group.

Late Nights and Early Starts

Not every trip falls in the middle of the day. Some travellers go to town for an evening and others leave early for a flight or an excursion.

Late evening. If you dine in the city and return to Belek at night, the road is much quieter than during the day. The drive is likely to be at or below the normal 33 minutes. Agree a pickup time and a meeting point with the driver before you go out. Night-time pickups work best from a point that vehicles can reach easily, like a main road, a hotel entrance or a harbour car park, rather than from a pedestrian lane.

Early morning. If you start from Belek early, for example for an excursion from the city, a ferry or a tour, the road is also quiet. Tell the driver the time you must arrive, not just the time you want to leave, and allow a margin for traffic near the airport corridor if it is a weekday.

The Return Trip: City to Belek or to the Airport

Many guests use the same driver for the return. Some points help the return to run smoothly.

City to Belek. The pickup point in town matters more than the distance. The old town has restricted streets, and a car cannot always reach your door. Agree a meeting point that the driver can reach, and give a phone number so the driver can find you. Allow time for any traffic building on the eastbound D400, particularly at the end of the afternoon. If you have a spa booking, a tee time or a dinner at the resort, plan to arrive with a comfortable margin.

City to the airport. The airport is on the eastern side of Antalya, on the same road corridor that leads toward Belek. If you return home from the city, leave earlier than you think you need to. For international flights, plan to arrive at the terminal with plenty of time for check-in, security and passport control, and add a margin for the busy summer peaks. A morning flight needs an early start. A late-night flight still needs the traffic margin because the evening airport waves are busy.

A useful rule. Pick your pickup time by working backwards from the hard deadline: the flight, the tee time or the booking. Then add the drive, a traffic margin and the time you need to load luggage.

Nearby Day Trips

From a base in Belek or in the city, the Antalya region offers many full or half-day excursions. A private car can be arranged for each one. These are routes people often combine with this transfer:

  • Perge is an ancient city with a long colonnaded street and a large stadium. It lies on the road between Belek and Antalya, so it is easy to stop on the way.
  • Aspendos has one of the best-preserved Roman theatres in the world and is still used for performances. It lies east of Belek, away from the city direction, so plan it as a separate trip.
  • Side is a seaside town with a Roman harbour and the Temple of Apollo on the shore. It makes a good half-day trip from Belek.
  • Düden Waterfalls are in the city and are easy to add to any town day.
  • Termessos is a mountain-top ancient city in a national park, a good trip for hikers and history lovers from Antalya.
  • Kemer, Phaselis and Olympos lie to the west of the city, along the coast and the Lycian side of the Taurus mountains. They are better suited to a separate day than to a same-day transfer from Belek.
  • Manavgat Waterfall and river is an easy half-day trip east of Belek.

Tell us your plans and we can arrange a point-to-point transfer for any of these, not only airport journeys.

Seasons: When to Make This Trip

The Antalya climate is Mediterranean, with long sunny seasons. Each time of year changes the plan.

Spring (April to May). The weather is mild and green. Sea swimming is possible for the brave, and the city is pleasant for walking. This is a very good season for sightseeing in Kaleiçi, Perge and Aspendos without the heat. Golf in Belek is popular at this time.

Summer (June to September). The summer is hot, often above 35°C. Plan old-town walks early in the morning or in the evening. The beaches and the sea are at their best. The roads are busiest, and the transfer may take longer in peak hours. Book your car in advance in this season.

Autumn (October to November). The sea is still warm and the crowds are thinner. The light is soft, which suits photography and long walks. The sea season runs from April to November, so autumn is still within it.

Winter (December to March). The winters are mild, with daytime temperatures around 15°C. The Belek resorts are quieter, but golf continues. The city has a calm, local feel, and museums and indoor sights are comfortable. Rain can fall in the winter months, so bring a light jacket and an umbrella. The Taurus peaks can carry snow, which makes a lovely backdrop for the sea.

Booking Your Belek to Antalya City Center Transfer

A good booking starts with five facts:

  1. The exact name of your Belek hotel and, for large resorts, the entrance or block.
  2. The full address or hotel name in Antalya.
  3. The date and the pickup time.
  4. The number of passengers, children and suitcases, plus golf bags if you have them.
  5. A mobile number that works in Turkey, for example a WhatsApp number.

With these details, Turkey Transfer confirms the car and the driver. The driver meets you at your hotel lobby at the time you chose, takes you door to door along the 31 km route and leaves you where you need to be. For the return, we plan the pickup in the same way, with a clear meeting point and a realistic time.

Frequently Asked Questions

How long does the Belek to Antalya city center transfer take?

The drive takes around 33 minutes for 31 km, via the D400. Add a little extra during the morning and evening commuter peaks, and on busy summer days near the Aksu and eastern city approaches.

Can the driver collect me from inside my Belek resort?

Yes. Belek's resorts sit behind security gates, and we arrange pickup at your hotel lobby or reception, so you do not have to walk to a main road with your luggage.

Will the car take me to a specific address in the centre?

Yes. Give us the address of your hotel, apartment or meeting point. The car goes to the door where vehicles can reach. In Kaleiçi, narrow and pedestrian lanes can limit access, so the driver stops at the nearest practical point.

Is there a train or bus from Belek to the city centre?

There is no train and no useful direct bus from the Belek hotel zone into central Antalya. A taxi or a booked transfer is the realistic way to go.

How early should I leave for a flight from the city?

Work backwards from your flight time. The airport lies on the eastern side of Antalya, so the trip from the city is shorter than from Belek. Allow time for check-in and security, and add a traffic margin in the summer season.

Can you pick me up late at night in the city?

Yes. Agree the time and a clear meeting point in advance, and send a message if your plans change. Night-time roads are quieter, and the return to Belek is usually quick.
