Tucked into the far southwestern corner of Antalya province, right at the edge of Muğla, Kaş feels like a different world from the big resort strips further east. The old town still carries traces of its Greek architectural past, and on a clear day you can see the Greek island of Meis (Kastellorizo) sitting just offshore — close enough that day-trip boats cross over from the harbour in twenty minutes. What makes Kaş unusual is that its ancient history isn't fenced off in a museum — it's woven into daily life. Lycian rock-cut tombs from the ancient city of Antiphellos rise straight out of residential streets, and the Doric "King's Tomb" on the hillside is worth the short walk up, especially at sunset. On the western edge of town, the Hellenistic-Roman amphitheatre looks straight out over the sea and is one of the best free sunset spots in the region — a taxi ride of well under ten minutes from most hotels. Every Friday, the local market fills with produce, honey and handicrafts from surrounding villages, and it's a genuinely local scene rather than a tourist trap.

Kaş's real highlights are often reached by boat or by a short taxi ride out of town. Daily boat tours from the marina head out to the sunken city of Kekova, the Byzantine castle above Kaleköy (ancient Simena), and the fishing village of Üçağız. Divers rate Kaş among the clearest diving waters in Turkey, and it's easy to grab a taxi down to the marina to join a dive boat without needing your own transport. By road, Kaputaş Beach — the famous turquoise cove between Kaş and Kalkan, reached down a long staircase — is about a twenty-minute drive, and the long sandy stretch of Patara Beach, next to the ancient ruins of Patara, is around forty to forty-five minutes. Both are trips we run constantly for guests staying in Kaş.

Dalaman is the airport we recommend for Kaş, and honestly, most transfer companies here would say the same — it's roughly 150 km away, and the drive takes between two and a half and three hours depending on traffic. You can also fly into Antalya Airport, but the road from there is considerably longer, so most of our Kaş guests choose Dalaman. We track your flight number, so a late-night arrival or a delay doesn't change anything — our driver will be waiting at the terminal either way. Your fare is agreed at booking and fixed at a fixed fare confirmed at booking, with no meter running and no surprise add-ons; just tell us in advance if you need a child seat.

Kaş is generally open for tourism from May through October, with June to September bringing the warmest sea and weather. The old town itself is small enough to explore entirely on foot, but reaching Kekova, Kaputaş or Patara really needs a taxi or a private transfer — dolmuş minibuses run infrequently and don't cover most of the scenic routes well.
