Kemer Boat Trip

Few places on the Turkish Riviera put the mountains and the sea this close together. On this boat trip you leave the harbour behind and cruise along a shoreline where the Taurus range rises almost straight out of the Mediterranean, framing every bay you pass. The pace is unhurried by design: this is a day for stretching out on deck, watching the coast slide by and leaving the route to the captain. The further the shore recedes, the quieter it gets — soon it is just wind, water and the line of the mountains.

The heart of the trip is the string of bays the boat calls at. At each stop the anchor goes down and the water is yours: dive straight off the boat, swim slow laps in the calm of a sheltered cove, or simply stay on board and enjoy the view. Between stops there is plenty of time to sunbathe, take photos and wonder what the next bay will look like. Nobody has to get in the water — non-swimmers enjoy the day just as much from the deck.

An open-buffet lunch is served on board, so there is no need to pack food for the day. And keep an eye on the water as you cruise: dolphins are seen along this coast from time to time. A sighting is never guaranteed — it is purely a matter of luck — but when a pod does appear beside the boat, it tends to become the story everyone tells that evening.
