Istanbul Airport to Silivri private transfer

Silivri sits on the northern shore of the Sea of Marmara, roughly an hour's drive west of central Istanbul, and it runs at a very different pace from the megacity next door. Known in antiquity as Selymbria, it grew up around a small fishing harbour and, over the centuries, became one of the favourite weekend and summer escapes for Istanbul families. The district isn't one single centre - it's a string of coastal neighbourhoods. Silivri town itself holds the old bazaar and fishing shelter; Selimpaşa, just along the coast, is known for its seafront fish restaurants; Gümüşyaka has one of the region's wider beaches; and Değirmenköy is the quieter, more residential end. In summer these fill up with Istanbul weekenders; the rest of the year, fish restaurants and waterfront cafés keep things going at a gentler pace.

In the last few years Silivri has also caught the eye of foreign property buyers looking for a coastline alternative to Istanbul's high prices, and new residential complexes have gone up along the shore to match. For the beach, Selimpaşa and Semizkumlar are the go-to spots in summer, both roughly 10-15 minutes away by taxi from the centre. If you want to range further, a driver can take you out to Büyükçekmece with its lake and long viaduct, or west towards Tekirdağ and Thrace's vineyard country for a full day trip. On the drive in from Istanbul Airport, it's also worth a glance out the window for the historic Büyükçekmece Bridge, another Mimar Sinan structure from the reign of Süleyman the Magnificent whose stone arches still carry traffic today - ask your driver to pull over for a quick photo stop if you like, it only adds a few minutes.
