The ground truth
10 Orhaniye hotels sit in our pickup index, so your driver gets the entrance, not the district.
Orhaniye is a small, quiet bay village on the Hisarönü Gulf, tucked at the neck of the Bozburun Peninsula about 20-22 km southeast of Marmaris town. It has none of Marmaris's crowded bazaar or nightlife - instead it's known for having some of the calmest, clearest water in the whole gulf. Sheltered by hills on almost every side, the sea here barely ripples even when it's choppy outside the bay, which is exactly why families with young children and gulet-cruise yachts alike keep coming back. Out of season it's little more than a few hundred residents; in summer the shoreline fills gently with small hotels, pensions and beach restaurants rather than resort towers. The rhythm of the place is set by fishing boats in the early morning and the smell of grilled fish drifting from waterfront tables at dusk.
The one landmark everyone comes for is Kızkumu, a natural sand spit (a tombolo) that rises out of the shallow water and connects two shores. Local legend says Mark Antony had sand shipped in specially from the Red Sea to build it and impress Cleopatra during her visit to the region; the real explanation is a straightforward geological formation, but the story has stuck so hard it even lends its name to one of the local hotels. You can wade knee-deep across the sand strip with turquoise water on both sides, and there's a small restaurant right on the spit itself. We drop guests here constantly - it's under 5 minutes by taxi from the centre of the village.
Orhaniye's main beach has a gentle, gradually shelving sand-and-pebble bottom with almost no waves, which is exactly what makes it a favourite with families. Day-boat trips leave from the village jetty for quieter coves and small islets across the gulf, and hiring a captained boat for the day to swim in secluded bays is very much a local tradition here rather than a tourist gimmick. We're happy to run guests down to the jetty early and pick them back up from the hotel in the evening.
Orhaniye's real strength is how short a taxi ride puts you in reach of the rest of the Bozburun Peninsula and Marmaris itself:
We cover all of these routes on request - guests who'd rather set their own pace than join a group tour often book us specifically for a Selimiye dinner run.
We've been running transfers to Orhaniye's hotels for years. We're frequent visitors to Kizkumu Motel, practically walking distance from the sandbank it's named after, to the gulf-view Fortezza beach Resort Hotel, and to Palmiye Hotel with its quiet garden. Boat-owning guests often prefer Begonvil Yacht Club, which has its own mooring, while the family-run, budget-friendly Erol Motel is another address we know well. Angel's Marmaris Otel and the olive-grove setting of Olive Tree Bungalows are also on our regular route. Wherever you're staying, we bring you and your luggage right to the door.
Dalaman Airport (DLM) is Orhaniye's nearest gateway. The road runs down to Marmaris first and then climbs the hilly ridge road onto the peninsula, so despite looking short on a map the drive genuinely takes a while - a realistic figure is around 125 km, roughly 2 to 2.5 hours (Marmaris traffic in high summer can push that a bit further). We always say this upfront rather than letting you find out the hard way; treat any "60-minute transfer" claim you see online with suspicion. We track your flight, so a delayed landing doesn't leave you stranded - we wait, meet you with a name board at the terminal, and go straight to your hotel. The fare is fixed before you travel at a fixed fare confirmed at booking, with no surprise extras. Late-night arrivals get the same driver and the same care - one vehicle, your own group, door to door, no minibus transfers or shuttle waiting.
