Cruise between Europe and Asia, see Ottoman palaces, fortresses, and the magnificent Istanbul skyline. Pick-up from your Istanbul hotel and the return transfer are arranged for you, so there's no need to find the pier alone. Late-afternoon sailings catch the best light on the waterfront mansions and the strait's two bridges, while mornings are calmer for photos. Bring a windproof layer — the open deck stays breezy even in summer — and keep your camera charged for the palace facades.

Fly to Istanbul for a packed day: Blue Mosque, Hagia Sophia, Topkapi Palace, Grand Bazaar, and Bosphorus cruise. Domestic flights, all entrances, lunch, and expert guide included. The day starts before dawn with a transfer from your Antalya hotel to the airport and ends with a late-night drop-off, so keep the following morning light. Bring photo ID for the domestic flight, comfortable walking shoes, and a scarf plus shoulder cover for the mosque visits. The pace is demanding and suits adults and older children who are happy to keep moving between sights.

The ground truth
52 Moda hotels sit in our pickup index, so your driver gets the entrance, not the district.
Moda sits on a small peninsula in Kadıköy, on Istanbul's Asian shore, wrapped by the Sea of Marmara on three sides. It has a reputation as the city's laid-back, slightly bohemian neighbourhood — leafy streets, old apartment buildings, secondhand bookshops, record stores, and a coastal promenade that fills up every evening with people watching the sunset. Despite sitting minutes from one of the busiest parts of the city, Moda keeps its own unhurried rhythm, helped along by the red nostalgic tram that still rattles through its backstreets. The Kadıköy ferry terminal is also an easy walk away, with regular boats across to Karaköy, Eminönü and Beşiktaş, so staying in Moda doesn't cut you off from the European side at all — it just gives you a quieter base to come back to.
The heart of Moda is its coastline. Moda Park's walking and cycling path runs from Kalamış Marina around the tip of the peninsula, where the historic Moda Pier — a wooden tea garden built out over the water — is the classic spot to watch the sun go down over the Marmara. On a clear day you can see the silhouette of the Princes' Islands (Büyükada, Heybeliada) from here; many of our guests staying in Moda take the ferry to the islands from Kadıköy or Bostancı, and we're happy to run the short taxi transfer to whichever pier you need. The yachts and small boats moored at Kalamış Marina add their own charm to an evening walk, and sitting there with a glass of tea as the light fades is something of a local ritual.
It's a 10-15 minute walk from Moda into central Kadıköy, home to the fish market and the narrow lanes around Güneşlibahçe Sokak. A little further north is Yeldeğirmeni, known for its street art and murals. Walk the seafront the other way and you'll reach Kalamış Marina and, beyond it, Fenerbahçe's historic lighthouse and park. It's genuinely one of the best bases in Istanbul for a car-free day: breakfast at the fish market, an afternoon strolling the coast toward Fenerbahçe, and not a single taxi needed until evening.
Moda's location makes almost everything nearby a short taxi ride: 10-15 minutes to the shops on Bağdat Caddesi, around 10 minutes to the historic Haydarpaşa railway station, 20-25 minutes to Üsküdar, and 25-30 minutes up to the panoramic viewpoint at Çamlıca Hill. The fast ferry terminal at Bostancı, with sailings toward Yalova and Bursa, is about 15-20 minutes away. Crossing the Bosphorus to Beyoğlu, Karaköy or Taksim by taxi generally takes 40-60 minutes depending on bridge traffic — the ferry is a lovely alternative, but a taxi goes door to door without hauling luggage on and off a boat, and it's the only option once the evening ferry schedule thins out.
We drop guests off most often at the DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel Istanbul, Holiday Inn Kadıköy, Kervansaray and Bossuite Hotel Kadikoy. Travellers staying closer to Bağdat Caddesi ask us for Pasha Hotel (also listed as Pasha Otel or The Pasha İstanbul on some booking sites), Atlas Otel Kadıköy, Bella Hotel and Deniz Hotel just as often. Most of these sit within walking distance of either the seafront or the shopping strip, so it's worth picking the one closest to whichever side of Moda you plan to explore most. Whichever one you've booked, our driver waits with your name on a sign and carries your bags to the front desk, not just the kerb.
Istanbul has two airports, and which one you land at changes the journey a lot. Istanbul Airport (IST), on the European side, is roughly 65-70 km from Moda once you cross the Bosphorus, which usually takes 75 minutes to 2 hours depending on traffic. Sabiha Gökçen Airport (SAW) sits on the Asian side and is far closer — about 30-35 km, normally 40-50 minutes. We're a family-run company based in Antalya and have been arranging transfers like this across Turkey for years, and we run the same routine in Istanbul: whichever airport you fly into, we meet you at arrivals with a name board, and the fare is agreed upfront at a fixed fare confirmed at booking — no surprise extras, luggage and reasonable waiting time included.
The same fixed price and meet-and-greet apply to flights landing after midnight — we track your flight number, so if it's delayed we're still there when you clear customs. One thing worth knowing: the Kadıköy-Adalar ferries don't run frequently late at night, so for a late arrival we'd simply drive you straight to your hotel door rather than via the sea. Whether you're in Moda for a weekend by the water or a single night before a business meeting, a fixed-price, door-to-door transfer takes the most stressful part of the trip off your plate, leaving you free to head straight for the seafront and that first sunset.
