Only values available on the published route are displayed. Traffic, road works and the exact property entrance can change the actual driving time.
Tours linked directly to Karaköy appear first, followed by current options from its wider region. Check each tour page for the exact departure and hotel-pickup details.

Cruise between Europe and Asia, see Ottoman palaces, fortresses, and the magnificent Istanbul skyline. Pick-up from your Istanbul hotel and the return transfer are arranged for you, so there's no need to find the pier alone. Late-afternoon sailings catch the best light on the waterfront mansions and the strait's two bridges, while mornings are calmer for photos. Bring a windproof layer — the open deck stays breezy even in summer — and keep your camera charged for the palace facades.

Fly to Istanbul for a packed day: Blue Mosque, Hagia Sophia, Topkapi Palace, Grand Bazaar, and Bosphorus cruise. Domestic flights, all entrances, lunch, and expert guide included. The day starts before dawn with a transfer from your Antalya hotel to the airport and ends with a late-night drop-off, so keep the following morning light. Bring photo ID for the domestic flight, comfortable walking shoes, and a scarf plus shoulder cover for the mosque visits. The pace is demanding and suits adults and older children who are happy to keep moving between sights.

The ground truth
12 Karaköy hotels sit in our pickup index, so your driver gets the entrance, not the district.
Karaköy sits right where the Golden Horn meets the Bosphorus, on the European shore of Istanbul, just across the water from the old city. For most of the twentieth century it was a working harbour — customs houses, ship chandlers, hardware stores — and that industrial bone structure is still visible in the ironwork shopfronts and warehouse façades. Over the last decade or so, Karaköy has become one of Istanbul's most talked-about neighbourhoods: a dense little grid of specialty coffee roasters, design studios, art galleries and some of the city's best new hotels, all within walking distance of the water. It's compact, walkable, and sits at a genuine crossroads — you can be on the historic peninsula, in hip Beyoğlu, or on a Bosphorus ferry within minutes.
Karaköy's signature landmark towers directly above it: the Galata Tower, a 14th-century Genoese stone tower with a circular balcony that gives one of the best panoramic views in the city, is a five-minute uphill walk or a two-minute taxi ride from the waterfront. Right on Karaköy's own shoreline sits Istanbul Modern, the city's contemporary art museum in its striking Renzo Piano-designed building — you can walk there in under ten minutes from most hotels in the district. A few streets back, Bankalar Caddesi (Banks Street), the Ottoman Empire's old financial district, houses SALT Galata in the former Ottoman Bank headquarters — worth an hour for the architecture alone. Down by the water, the elegant Kılıç Ali Paşa Mosque, designed by the great architect Mimar Sinan, sits almost on the pier.
Cross the iconic Galata Bridge — five minutes by taxi, fifteen on foot past the fishermen who line its rails — and you're in Eminönü, at the doorstep of Sultanahmet: Hagia Sophia, the Blue Mosque, Topkapı Palace and the Grand Bazaar are all a short, flat taxi ride away, no more than ten to fifteen minutes depending on traffic. Heading the other direction along the coast road, Dolmabahçe Palace is a straightforward ten-minute drive. For Taksim Square and İstiklal Street, you can either take a taxi up through Beyoğlu or ride the historic Tünel funicular — opened in 1875 and one of the oldest underground railways in the world — which starts right at the edge of Karaköy. The neighbourhood's own ferry piers put you on a boat to Kadıköy, Üsküdar, or the Princes' Islands in minutes, and we're happy to arrange a taxi to whichever pier you need.
We regularly take guests to hotels across Karaköy, from grand waterfront names to small design-led boutiques. The JW Marriott Istanbul Bosphorus and The Peninsula Istanbul — the latter beautifully converted from the old port's customs buildings right on the water — are two of the district's best-known addresses, and both sit directly on our airport transfer routes. For travellers who prefer something smaller and more personal, we also bring guests to FAMA Boutique Hotel, Hotel Galata Palace, The Haze Hotel, and Hotel Ada, all tucked into Karaköy's narrow streets within easy walking distance of the tower, the museum, and the bridge. Wherever your reservation is, we take you to the door, not just the neighbourhood.
Sabiha Gökçen is the airport most of our Karaköy guests fly into, and it sits roughly 31 km from the district, on the opposite, Asian side of the city. The drive crosses one of the Bosphorus bridges or the Eurasia Tunnel and typically takes 45 minutes to just over an hour, depending on time of day and traffic — Istanbul's rush hours can stretch that, so we build a sensible buffer into every pickup time rather than promise something unrealistic. We track your flight, so a delay doesn't leave you standing at arrivals with no one there. Our driver waits with a name board, helps with luggage, and takes you straight to your hotel door — no terminal to search for, no transfer desk, no switching vehicles. The fare is a fixed fare confirmed at booking, so there's no meter running and no surprise at the end of the ride.
Karaköy is a safe, lively area well into the evening, with cafés and restaurants open late, but landing after midnight with heavy luggage is still easier with someone waiting for you than with a taxi rank negotiation at 2am. We run meet-and-greet pickups around the clock, so a 1am or 4am landing is handled exactly like a midday one — same fixed fare, same driver with your name, same door-to-door drop-off. If your flight details change, let us know and we'll adjust the pickup automatically.
Because Karaköy sits at the hinge between the old city and the new, it's also a sensible base for day trips by taxi — to the Bosphorus villages further up the strait, to the Asian-side neighbourhoods across the water, or back out to either airport when you leave. If there's a specific address, restaurant, or sight you want to reach, tell us when you book and we'll quote it as clearly as the airport run.
