The ground truth
24 Ilıca hotels sit in our pickup index, so your driver gets the entrance, not the district.
Ask any Turkish traveller where to go for a proper beach holiday near İzmir, and Ilıca comes up almost immediately. It's a neighbourhood of the Çeşme district, right where the Çeşme peninsula meets the Aegean, and its name literally means "thermal spring" — for centuries, warm mineral water flowed straight into the sea here, and that geothermal heritage is exactly why so many spa and thermal resorts cluster along this one stretch of coastline. Ilıca sits between Boyalık Bay to the north and Alaçatı, Turkey's windsurfing capital, a short drive to the south. It's known above all for one thing: a genuinely huge, shallow, golden-sand beach that stays family-friendly for a long way out, while windsurfers and kitesurfers work the open water further along the coast.
The beach itself runs for kilometres, lined by beach clubs by day and seafront restaurants and cafés once the sun drops. Walk a little north and you're on Boyalık beach, a quieter cove that's also home to some of the area's biggest hotels, including Boyalık Beach Hotel. Because of its thermal-water history, Ilıca has become one of the main hotel hubs on the whole peninsula — this is where you'll find the highest concentration of "spa & thermal resort" properties in the entire Çeşme district, and it's a big part of why the area draws returning guests year after year.
A five-to-six-minute taxi ride takes you into Çeşme town centre, home to Çeşme Castle — a genuine Genoese-Ottoman fortress that's now open as a museum — and Çeşme Marina right beside it, a pleasant spot for an evening walk and fresh fish. Ferries from the same harbour run to the Greek island of Chios for a day trip, and we regularly drop guests at the port in time to catch the morning sailing. Head the other way and it's around an 8-9 minute taxi ride to Alaçatı, famous for its restored stone houses, old windmills, boutique hotels and lively evening bazaar street. A short drive west brings you to Dalyan, a working fishing village known for waterfront seafood restaurants. Any of these make an easy half-day taxi trip straight from your hotel in Ilıca, and we're happy to arrange the return leg too.
We've been driving guests to hotels in this area for years. Right on the seafront, we do regular drop-offs at Ilıca Hotel Spa & Thermal Resort, and at the large thermal complex Altınyunus over toward Boyalık. We also run frequent transfers to Swissôtel Resort & Spa Çeşme and to the Radisson Blue resort nearby. Guests heading for the Alaçatı side often book us for La Rubina Alaçatı Hotel, while travellers who prefer smaller, boutique-style stays choose places like Asmalı Konak Otel, Bedirhan Otel, Albayrak Hotel & Aparts, or Cesme Sirin Villa Otel — we cover all of them, door to door, no matter how far off the main road they sit.
İzmir Adnan Menderes Airport (ADB) is Ilıca's gateway, roughly 75-85 km away — figure on 1 to 1.5 hours depending on traffic, most of it on the motorway before you cross onto the peninsula. We track your flight, so if it's delayed, your driver is still there waiting — no extra charge for that. Meet and greet at arrivals, a name board with yours on it, and a direct run to your hotel's front door: that's the standard service. Price is fixed and agreed before you fly (a fixed fare confirmed at booking), with no surprises at the other end. Land at 2am and it's exactly the same — we're a family-run company and someone always answers the phone.
Ilıca is busiest from June through September, and July-August fills up fast, so book your hotel early if you're coming then. May and October are quieter, the sea is still warm enough to swim, and prices ease off — while windsurfers actually prize the stronger autumn winds along this coast. Whatever the season, just send us your flight details and hotel name, and we'll have the transfer sorted before you land.
